Runner-up in Sabine Raceway visit

After more than a month away from the driver's seat, Austin Theiss returned to the track on Friday afternoon at Sabine Raceway (Many, La.) for the Triple Crown Throwdown.

With 13 Crate Late Models in the pit area, Thiess gained four spots in his heat race which set him up with a second-row starting position. For the 15-lap main event, Austin quickly moved into the runner-up position but was unable to catch leader David Winslett.

Joining the American Crate Late Model Series on Saturday at Rocket Raceway Park (Petty, Texas), Austin qualified second-fastest before running second in his heat race. In the $2,500-to-win feature, Theiss ran inside the Top-5 before mechanical woes ended his night early.
