Runner-up Finish in Night Three of Short Track Shootout at SNMS

Friday night brought Austin Theiss to Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico) for the three-day Short Track Shootout. In a field of 19 Super Late Models, Theiss locked his spot into the opening night feature with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Dropping four spots, Austin logged a 17th place outing.

On Saturday evening Theiss locked his spot into the $1,000-to-win A-Main with an 8-lap heat race victory. Rolling off 4th, Austin slipped up one position in the 20-lapper to place 5th behind Fito Gallardo, Clay Daly, Jake Gallardo, and G.W. Egbert.

Wrapping up the Short Track Shootout on Sunday, Theiss had already locked into the 7th-starting position for the feature via preliminary events. With $1,200 on the line, Austin improved five spots to place 2nd behind G.W. Egbert with Xavier Ortega, Kody Hardage, and Steve Stultz completing the Top-5 finishers. (Jim Rosas photo)
