Austin Kicks off World of Outlaws Weekend

Behind the wheel of the Northside Plumbing & Supply #7D Super Late Model, Austin Theiss made the trip to Shawano Speedway (Shawano, Wisconsin) on Wednesday night for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models Series sanctioned program. With 30 cars on hand for the eighth annual Sun Drop Shootout, Theiss failed to make it out for his heat race after a broken shock in time trials sent him into the wall. Getting the car straightened up before the start of his B-Main, Austin improved two positions in the consolation event but came short of a transfer spot in the A-Main.

After losing Thursday night’s opener to Mother Nature, Austin Theiss returned to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) on Friday evening for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned weekend. Drawing 42 Super Late Models for the 30th annual USA Nationals, Theiss passed two cars in his heat race registering a 8th place finish. Needing a 3rd place finish or better in his B-Main to make the opening night feature, Austin came up two positions short with a 5th place outing.

Later on Friday night, Theiss followed up the eighteenth fastest time in his qualifying group with an 8th place finish in his heat race. Transferring into the B-Main on Saturday night for another shot at the $50,000-to-win finale, Austin dropped back to a 11th place finish in his consolation event ending his weekend early.
